Oofa Miaow!
Saturday, March 12th and/or Saturday, March 19th
by Sarah French
OOFA MIAOW (OM) is inspired by the idea that play opens worlds & helps us discover who we are. It creates awareness, generates solutions, and can even awaken memories. Play can help us and even hold us through difficult times. What does it mean to welcome more play into our lives as adults? The experience of playing can make us feel vulnerable, at the same time that it delights and deepens us. OM integrates ideas and images from theater, clowning, dance, poetry, nature, and education. Its vision is to inspire creativity in individuals and communities through playful acts of being.
In this series of one-day discovery labs, we’ll embark on a gently structured journey connecting us to the excitement, inspiration, and personally-flavored aliveness of our own playful being. We'll move, write, hum, talk, reflect. With Spring as our guide, we’ll welcome the “green” parts of ourselves that are asking to bloom and grow.
OM welcomes teachers, parents, scientists, poets, artists, thinkers, presidents, entrepreneurs & anyone else who is here. Come with no agenda, or come to discover more of yourself through openness, curiosity, and simple being.
Saturday, March 12th, 10 - 3 pm, $85
and/or
Saturday, March 19th, 10 - 3pm, $85
Join us for both days for $150
All classes take place at the Paperboat and Bird Garage Studio, Stockton, NJ
limited space available so please register early.
Sarah French lives in Brooklyn, NY. She has an MSW from NYU. She has worked as a writer, social worker, psychotherapist, TV actress, dolphin ambassador, recorder player, English language teacher, elementary school teacher - & more! Since 2013, she has been facilitating clowning playshops with Vivian Gladwell (nosetonose.info). Her current passion is OM, which is inspired by all her experience, & particularly a lifelong interest in play. Perhaps, at its heart, play has no purpose. Also, Sarah sees that OM may have many applications, & is curious to find out what they are.
OOFA-MIAOW offers and seriously silly new curricula to teachers and schools, as well as seriously silly interactive programs to organizations and institutions. For more information, write to Sarah at [email protected] or [email protected].
