6 Class Series
Live Zoom (and Recorded)
Tuesdays Evenings, 6:30-7:30pm, EST.
November 12, 19, 26, December 3, 10, 17, 2024
In the Awareness with Emotions (AWE) Series, we will learn how to bring your attention to what you are feeling to better understand what your emotions are communicating to you and as a result be able to pay attention to what really matters in your life.
You'll engage in various simple movements, sometimes rhythmic and energizing and sometimes slow and conscious, occasionally incorporating writing, drawing and simple props like paper, a chair or scarf and all set to a diverse musical backdrop. You'll play with different forms of perception and questions to create space for your emotional, imaginal, and physical "thinking" and give your (in the) head-dominated thinking a well needed rest and support.
This practice primarily works with our bodies ability to move with limitless dynamic variations and qualities and includes:
It is silly, serious, deep, light, revelatory and provocative experience.
As you learn how your emotions play in your body, you will become more aware of their necessary messages. Instead of keeping everything around you unmoving and controlled, you can figure out how to respond or behave and use your whole body intelligence to move with the present moment. Then, making decisions, relating to others, and generating solutions feels more like a dance than an impossible task.
No experience necessary and open to anyone with a body. You can keep the camera off or on or a little bit of both. The key is to move with as little inhibition as possible and enjoy being with your ever-changing messy, confused, grumpy, melancholic, bored, nervous, awkward, shy, goofy, depressed, excited self.
The class consists of approximately 55 minutes of creative movement ( first 5 minutes will be a verbal introduction and description of what to expect for the class) and will engage you with many different levels of physical and emotional intensity. You choose how deeply you want to go in your personal space.
